Frequently asked questions
Does NeuPanchang work without internet?
Yes. The panchang, festivals, kundali, muhurat and eclipses are all calculated on your phone from a built-in astronomical table. The Android app has no internet permission at all.
How accurate are the timings?
Tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana end times are tested to within 3 seconds of NASA JPL's DE440 ephemeris, and planet positions to within 2.5 arc seconds. Major festival dates for New Delhi are checked against a published almanac for every year from 2011 to 2036.
Will the dates be right if I live outside India?
Yes. NeuPanchang works out every date for your own city, with its time zone and daylight saving, from over 31,000 cities. That is why a festival can fall a day apart in India and abroad. You can also keep your home city's dates on the Today screen.
Both. Pick Purnimanta, used in North India, or Amanta, used in South and West India. You can also choose your regional tradition and the ayanamsa: Lahiri, Raman or KP.
Can I make a kundali and match two kundalis?
Yes. Enter the birth date, time and place to get a North or South Indian chart with 16 divisional charts, dashas, doshas and Ashtakavarga. Kundali Milan scores all 8 kootas out of 36.
Can it remind me of shraddha and family tithis?
Yes. Save an event by Hindu month, paksha and tithi, or pick an English date and let the app find the tithi. It finds the right date every year and can remind you before the day.
Is my data private?
Yes. There is no account and no NeuPanchang server. Saved kundalis and family dates stay on your phone in an encrypted database, and the app has no ads or tracking.
When can I download it?
NeuPanchang is in TestFlight testing on iPhone now. The App Store and Google Play releases are coming soon.
